Digital Equity: The Road Ahead

4:00 – 4:20 p.m. (ET)
Throughout the day on February 17, thousands of educators and millions of students will participate in Digital Learning Day through classroom activities, schoolwide events, and even state-level celebrations. This concluding live webcast will highlight these experiences through questions, comments, and photos shared on Twitter from across the country and around the world. Emcee Rafranz Davis will be joined by Zac Chase, the U.S. Department of Education’s lead on the revision of the National Education Technology Plan, to recap the live sessions throughout the day and discuss the road ahead for achieving digital equity for all.

Explore the Issue: Digital Equity Resources

All too often, learners with diverse learning needs—and particularly those living in poverty—experience educational “opportunity gaps,” in the form of lower expectations from adults and less access to effective teaching and rigorous course work. Although schools are making progress towards providing equal access to technology, access alone does not guarantee that students of all backgrounds and abilities have equal opportunities to learn. The promise of technology depends on creating ongoing opportunities for educators to continuously improve their instructional practice.
