The Arkansas of Education will host a live stream event with panel discussions to spotlight key issues in digital learning.Viewers will be encouraged to participate via live chat. Arkansas educators will also be invited to contribute lessons to the digital learning showcase that will be published through Arkansas on iTunes U.

Our entire school is learning about internet safety and how to be a good digital citizen. First, every teacher will present information on the topic to their own class. Then, each class is paring up with another class to collaborate and create a project to present what they learned about internet safety and being a good digital citizen. Every student will have access to an ipad or a laptop on this day. After each project is made, we will share our presentations with parents and other classrooms.

Our students will be introduced to Edmodo as a form of communication and announcements in the library media center. Also, Edmodo allows a safe environment for our adolescents (6th and 7th graders) a safe place for an introduction to social media within a private, controlled environment to learn the difference between social comments and relative comments on posts. Students will be introduced to a book trailer and book poster competition sponsored by the library media center for "Love your Library Month" (February)

Wildlife Research Project is a project to get the kids in younger grades to have a better knowledge of the surrounding environment. Kids will work with game cameras, deer feeders, binoculars, and other types of equipment.

NLRHS will be completing a "confessional" vide where students will answer questions dealing with how they use digital technology to learn. Questions such as "How has technology changed over your lifetime? How do you use digital technology to benefit your education? And, what was the first piece of digital technology you ever used to benefit your education?" Students will also be using the green screen in order to enhance their videos. These videos will be shown via internet and the local cable access channel.

My students are creating 2 person picture podcast on either a historical event, innovative technology, author, or social media. They must use the Internet to research their topic. They will use either Pages or Word to create their podcast script with the appropriate picture alongside each part of the podcast. We will use Garageband on our Macs to create the it. The podcast has to be 2 minutes with appropriate pictures to help convey their ideas in the project. We will have these available for all students to listen to and learn from and hopefully give them a fresh idea on how to do a research project for their classes.

Students use laptops and explore mines from around the world using a website called Brainpop. The website has a virtual game called Master Mines.Once students find their minerals, they return to the virtual lab and perform tests to identify the minerals. It is sponsored by the JASON project.

Over the course of a 6-8 week unit, we are writing historical fiction stories set in the Civil War to put in an anthology. The anthology will be printed in a hard-bound edition by an outside publishing company and copies will be added to our school library. The students will draft, confer with peers, revise, and edit in a digital environment. We use our blogs to house our writing and interact with each other both within the classroom and from home. This is our third year to publish our books, but we are doing something completely new this time. Instead of hand-producing our manuscript, we are submitting the entire thing to the publisher in a totally digital format! On February 5, 2014, we will be blogging away in our 5th grade classroom.
